Sustainable Beauty Swaps

Love a beauty routine or a basic bitch like me there are so many changes you can make to make your beauty routine to be more sustainable. You don’t have to change your whole life over night but maybe have a look at the products you use and see if there is an alternative you can swap. You will have a cupboard full of products and tools the best thing to do is use them until it is time for a swap. Maybe have a little research and see what items you can replace. Here are some things to consider. Now go look fabulous and feel even better about it.

Cruelty Free

Check you beauty products and look for the vegan and leaping bunny logo. Cruelty free doesn’t have to be expensive either Body Shop, Aldi and Superdrug own brand products are all cruelty free. Look up the brands you are using and see if you can swap any items to a friendly or sustainable version. There are so many brands that support cruelty free you will be spoilt for choice.

Soap

A super simple swap. Ditch the plastic bottles and use soap. Maybe you are not a fan of shampoo bars but just by replacing your bottled hand wash and shower gel with a bar of soap will make a difference.

Go Hairy

I am just joking but ditch the single use razor! Treat yourself to a wax or invest in a rechargable device that you will use again and again or look into more sustainable option

Mouth Care

Plastic toothbrushes are terrible for the environment try bamboo or plant based products. There are so many choices on the market and even replacements for electric toothbrush heads. But that isn’t the only item you can replace dental floss is plastic string and that stuff is a nightmare for animals look at a sustainable option.

Face Clothes

Say no to single use items like cotton wool and wet wipes. Cotton is terrible for using water and trust me it uses a lot. Plus they come in plastic packaging which creates more waste. Why not replace with some reusable pads. You can make these or buy them.

Bath Scents

Love a bubble bath then make your own relaxing aroma instead of buying bubble bath. Using epsom salts , essential oils and items like dried oranges or other fruits or flowers you can make your bath feel extra special.

Period Products

Invest in some period pants. Tampons and sanitary towels are a plastic nightmare and they are expensive we have our periods over multiple decades. That is a lot of plastic waste and a lot of money. If period pants are not your thing here are lots of other options how about moon cups, biodegradable or reusable liners even more permanent contraceptive methods such as the ‘coil’, implant and injection.

Cotton Buds

Cottons buds are not everyones cup of tea but if you use them have you thought about buying plastic free.
